John Galantic has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Chanel. He was previously president of Coty Beauty US, the firm’s mass market arm. Prior to that, he held senior positions at SmithKline Beecham and the Procter & Gamble Co.

Galantic will take on the position recently held by Maureen Chiquet, who was promoted to Chanel’s global chief executive officer.
